Clemence le Boteler is believed by Mr. Douglas Richardson to be the wife of Nicholas de Verdun, and mother of Rohese. He has also suggested that this Clemence may be the "Queen Clementia" referred to in several early charters, a mistress of Henry I, and by him, the mother of Joan, wife of Prince Llewelyn. But a later post by Mr. Richardson indicates that, while this is possible, it is, as yet, not conclusively provable. See soc.genealogy.medieval, and Gen-Medieval Archives for a lengthy discussion of this possible affiliation. CP: Vol XII/2[247]; AR: Line 158[22], Line 167[21-22], Line 155[21], Line 149[21].
