Lieut. Stephen Goggin [b] b 1752, Charlotte, VA, d 1802, Bedford, VA. He md Rachel Clark Moorman 21 Dec 1773, Bedford, VA, daughter of Thomas Moorman and Rachel Clark.
Nancy Goggin b 1779, Bedford, VA, d 1850, Patrick, VA. She md Obadiah Tate 12 Dec 1798, Bedford, VA, son of Charles Tate and Charity Suddarth. NOTES: a. He is said to have come to Virginia from Queens County, Ireland in 1742. He patented a total of 656 acres on Flat Creek in Bedford County in 1759 and 1773, and was a member of the Anglican church. ![]() b. He was a first lieutenant in the Bedford County militia during the Revolutionary War. ![]() c. Their first child was John Marshall Clemens, father of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as the beloved American author, Mark Twain.
