NOTES:
a. Johan Jacob Kraus, age 25, farmer, from the Palatinate Germany, arrived in Nova Scotia, with his wife and son, Johannes, on the ship Pearl in 1752. He was given land grants of 30 acres in First Peninsula, Lunenburg County, and an additional 300 acres in an area called South Lunenburg County. He and wife, Maria Clara, had fifteen children. His death record, dated 17 Dec 1793, states his age to have been 67 years, and in his will, he refers to himself as "weaver."
