Waitstill Sumner b 1688, Milton, Norfolk, MA, d bef 5 Dec 1744, Weymouth, Norfolk, MA. She md Israel Washburn 3 Nov 1708, Bridgewater, Plymouth, MA, son of Samuel Washburn and Deborah Packard. SOURCES: a. He came with his wife, Mary West, to New England in 1636, and settled at Dorchester. He was made a freeman of the Colony on 17 May 1637. He served as a Selectman of Dorchester in 1637 and in more than twenty other years. From 1663-1671, he was one of the Comissioners to try and issue small causes. He also served as Deputy from Dorchester to the General Court in 1658, 1666 to 1670, 1672, 1681, and 1683 to 1686. He continued to own land in his english home of Bicester in Oxfordshire, until 1660. b. He was a freeman of the Colony on 6 May 1657. He resided at Lancaster from 1660-1675, and then removed to Milton, where he and his wife were admitted to the Church 20 Nov 1681, and was ordained Deacon 20 Aug 1682.
