Alice de Percy b abt 1186, of Ireland. She md Adam de Staveley abt 1200. NOTES: a. According to information posted on soc.gen.medieval, the originator of this Kildale Percy line in Ireland was Arnold de Percy. In looking at CP for Percy, there is mention (Vol X, pp 435-436, footnote b, and p 437, footnote e) of this Arnold as ancestor of the Kildale Percy line. He witnessed William de Percy's charter of foundation of the monastery of Whitby, about or before 1086. Also mentioned is William de Percy's brother, Serlo, and one Picot de Percy whom CP states is probably closely related. CP does not venture the relationship between William de Percy and Arnold de Percy, but it would appear reasonable that he was another close relative, if not a brother. The lineage of this Kildale line posted by Gee Gee Hughes, from an article in "The Colonial Genealogist", by Robert Joseph Cuffman, MA, FAS/he, FSO, Associate Editor, entitled "The Yorkshire Background of the Boyntons of Rowley": (beginning with Robert de Percy above), son of Arnold de Percy "held land in Ormsby of Robert de Brus abt 1119", son of Arnold de Percy, "living 1109." Also, of Robert de Percy "custody of his heirs to Adam de Brus". See Notes above. Return to TOP of this page Return to INDEX FOR PERCY Return to MAIN INDEX Return to HOME |
