b. Mr. Todd Farmerie, a noted genealogist and descendant of the Little Compton Horswells, believes that Peter is likely the father of at least Thomas Horswell, and probably also Burgess Horswell. He has done much research on his Horswell/Haswell ancestry and graciously shared his findings with this author. By process of elimination, having accounted for all known Horswell individuals of the appropriate time period, and the introduction of the name Thomas into this family, he believes this name came from Peter Horswell's father-in-law, Thomas Burgess. Additionally, this author located the very brief will abstract of Peter Horswell, who gives no names of his children, further lending credence to these "unattached" Horswells belonging to his branch of the family:
HORSWELL, Peter, of Newport, husbandman. Will dated 20 Apr 1784, proved 7 Mar 1785, pg 245. Mentions: Wife Martha Horswell. Each of my (unnamed) children. Witn: Thos Crossly, Weston Clarke, Peleg Barker.
