Lieut. Stephen Goggin [b] b 1752, Charlotte, VA, d 1802, Bedford, VA. He md Rachel Clark Moorman 21 Dec 1773, Bedford, VA, daughter of Thomas Moorman and Rachel Clark.
Nancy Goggin b 1779, Bedford, VA, d 1850, Patrick, VA. She md Obadiah Tate 12 Dec 1798, Bedford, VA, son of Charles Tate and Charity Suddarth. NOTES: a. He is said to have come to Virginia from Queens County, Ireland in 1742. He patented a total of 656 acres on Flat Creek in Bedford County in 1759 and 1773, and was a member of the Anglican church. b. He was a first lieutenant in the Bedford County militia during the Revolutionary War. c. Their first child was John Marshall Clemens, father of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as the beloved American author, Mark Twain.
