NOTES:
a. Probably the eldest son of Walter the Deacon, who was overlord of Wix in Essex, and also held in that county, Ferne, Purley, Little Easton, Estreford, and Coln. Robert and his siblings, Alexander de Waham, Walter Mascherel, and Edith, were founders of Wix Priory in Little Easton.

b. He had two sons, Robert, eldest son and heir, and Ralph.

c. Robert was twice married, first to a daughter of William de Windsor, and secondly to Maud, daughter of Roger de Flamville, and sister and coheiress to Hugh de Flamville.

d. Heiress to her father, she brought Little Easton to her marriage to Godfrey de Lovaine. There is disagreement between The Complete Peerage and Ancestral Roots concerning her mother, the former source stating her mother to be the first wife, while the latter source, as well as other contemporary sources, state her mother to have been Maud de Flamville. Chronology also supports Alice as daughter by the second wife.
