NOTES:
a. A grocer by occupation, he emigrated from Southwark, Surrey, England to Plymouth in 1633, and was admitted a freeman 1 Jan 1633/34, later removing, in 1639, to Duxbury. As to his education, The Great Migration Begins states "his appointment to the committee to review the laws speaks of considerable eduction." He served as Plymouth Colony Assistant from 1635-1637, 1639-1651, and 1654-1665, as Plymouth Commissioner to United Colonies 1643, on a Committee to assess colony taxes, a Committee to lay out highways (for Duxbury side), on the Council of War, Coroner, and numerous other positions. He died between 30 May 1670 and 4 July 1671.
